“The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.” – Psalm 126:3

On Wednesday morning, July 11th, 2025, our team of four set out on a mission, a 10-hour road journey that would take us to the heart of Kakamega County. This wasn’t just any trip. It was a mission with purpose; part reunion, part equipping. We were following up with one of our own, Faith, a DTA alumna living in the county, and we were also heading into four full days of ministry and training with a local congregation.

We arrived just before nightfall, a little travel-weary but full of purpose. The next four days would be a whirlwind of teaching, praying, healing, and watching God do what only He can do.

Day One

Thursday morning saw us stepping into CEC, one of the local churches hosting us. The welcome was warm, the kind that reaches past your hands and right into your heart. There was a noticeable hunger in the room;a spiritual readiness. You could feel it.

We began with Introducing Inner Healing laying a foundation of understanding what it means to let Jesus into our hidden places. From there, we moved to The Great Exchange at the Cross, explored Why People Suffer, and ended the day with Freedom from Unforgiveness. Healing had just begun.

Walking Through the Deep Waters

In the days that followed, we went deeper straight into the hidden corners of the heart. We taught on Freedom from Rejection and Curses, Freedom from Shame and Guilt, and the deeply personal journey of Spiritual House Cleaning. But these sessions were more than just lessons; they became sacred moments of encounter. As the congregation opened up and shared their stories, the room came alive with raw honesty and vulnerability. Their pain gave context to the teaching, and in turn, the teaching brought light to their pain. Healing began to flow. And together we prayed. And through it all, God’s grace was so evident. Hearts were healing, hope was awakening and chains were falling.

One of the most beautiful aspects of the week was the involvement of the church leadership. Not only did they support the process, but they also stepped in to pray and minister alongside us. They weren’t just recipients; they were partners in the mission.

Sunday

Sunday marked our final day in Kakamega. The service felt like the culmination of everything we had poured into. The messages taught on God’s Love and True Christianity tied all the themes we had covered during the last few days. There was a clarion call to not just believe but also to live our faith with boldness and authenticity. There was definitely a shift in the atmosphere, people were deeply moved and the Spirit was clearly working.

We left the service with a sense that something had been planted, and we’re trusting God for continued growth and opportunities to return for more training in the future.

Faith’s Story: Fruit That Remains

Later on we had a sweet moment of fellowship with our hosts and Faith, our DTA alumna who had connected us to her local church. Her parents shared a testimony that brought tears to our eyes. They spoke of the transformation they had seen in her life since her time at DTA, her healing, growth, and new sense of purpose.

Faith herself shared with quiet conviction how the DTA experience had shaped her spiritually, emotionally, and even relationally. Her story reminded us why we do what we do. It was a full-circle moment, the seed had borne fruit, and that fruit was now planting more seeds.

‘Attending DTA in 2023 was a life-changing decision. I came in with deep emotional pain, but through the inner healing sessions, I found freedom and peace. Since then, I’ve learned to forgive more easily, relate better with others, and embrace people without judgment. I’m especially grateful to the Hope Alive team for this opportunity. Today, I continue to walk with the Lord, sensing the sweet presence of the Holy Spirit in my life… and it’s soo lovely.’

In All Things, Glory to God

As we packed up and said our goodbyes, we couldn’t help but marvel at God’s faithfulness. He had carried us, used us, stretched us, and refreshed us. We had seen the hand of God. We had felt His presence. And we had watched Him work through simple teaching, honest prayer, and willing hearts. We were reminded that healing is possible. That hunger for truth still exists. That revival sometimes starts in the quiet corners of the nation where no one’s watching, except heaven.

We left Kakamega with full hearts, believing that this was just the beginning of many more missions to come.

To God be all the glory. For the lives touched, the seeds planted, and the stories still unfolding, we give thanks.
