Decision Making

Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.

Proverbs 3:5-6

The process of making decisions and arriving to a place of acting starts from the soul of a person. A decision, therefore, is a gateway into the soul of a person-revealing what is within. The expression of things around is at times a reflection of the decisions we made. From simple to meaningful decisions. The Lord has given man authority in making decisions and everything that concerns him. Decisions and choices are made and consequences are inevitable.

In Deuteronomy 30:19-20, The Lord placed authority over the children of Israel in choosing and also gave a counsel. What is amazing is that the choice made would affect even other generations that followed them. Decisions and choices affect not only individuals but also generations. There are many instances we can point out and see that it resulted from a choice made. Be it personal or corporate.

At all times in life, the Lord is inviting us to make decisions together with Him. He says, Come let us reason together….” He is a friend who sticks closer than a brother and always available to give us counsel. Isaiah 9:6 calls Him wonderful counselor. Therefore, involving Him is an act of laying down mind, thoughts, will, emotions and choices. Jesus demonstrated an act of surrender by agreeing to the Father’s Will and not His.

Abraham made a decision together with the wife Sarah to involve Hagar in bearing a child (Ishmael). Later, the Lord blessed Sarah with a son (Isaac). Tension arose in Abraham’s household, leading to separation.

When our minds are not flooded with the Light, the carnal mind takes over and overwhelms the spirit man. We choose what pleases the flesh and it’s always out of alignment with God’s will. Romans 8:6-18, shows clearly show the response made from a carnal mind(desires of the flesh) leads to death/separation from God’s idea or intentions.

A repentant heart and a renewed mind will seek to please the Lord and will be in alignment with the Spirit of the Lord. A sanctified soul will know Godly choices and decisions. The Truth comes and we are able to know where the enemy is presenting ideas as in Genesis 3. Decisions made involving Christ will lead to life and joy.

Arriving at the altar of decision making,

Every decision we make is more than a moment of choice, it’s a reflection of who rules our hearts. When we lean on our own understanding, we often end up walking in circles of frustration and regret. But when we surrender our reasoning to the Lord and seek His will, He aligns our hearts with His purpose.

So, before you move, pause, ask, listen and trust. the path may not always be clear but the one who leads is faithful.

‘The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way.’

Psalm 37:23
